Manchester Grand Hyatt San Diego

ASAE & The Center for Association Leadership are monitoring a possible boycott of the Manchester Grand Hyatt San Diego, one of the key convention hotels for our 2008 Annual Meeting & Exposition, August 16-19. It is our understanding that a coalition, including some members of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) community and their supporters, are planning a boycott of the property to protest a stance taken by the owner of the hotel in support of an amendment on the November ballot in California to ban same-sex marriage. It is our further understanding that protesters are not targeting the Hyatt Corporation – which has a strong and consistent policy of embracing and encouraging diversity in the workplace. Hyatt’s commitment to diversity has been reaffirmed in a letter directed to ASAE & The Center staff and members.
