12:00-5:00 p.m. Community CONNECTION – Volunteer Activity (separate registration required - separate cost applied as a donation)
Be part of ASAE & The Center's Community CONNECTION volunteer activity. Your time, energy and enthusiasm will benefit a magnificent organization called Father Joe's Villages®. The mission of the various charities under the umbrella of Father Joe's Villages is "to help people in need from all over America turn their lives around and regain independence".
This is your chance to make a difference in the San Diego community as you lend your support and meet industry colleagues at the same time. A variety of activities will take place on Friday afternoon to help families, homeless teens and others that need a helping hand. Several activities will be available, from painting to outdoor clean-up and gardening. The $75 fee to participate in this volunteer activity will be donated to Father Joe's Villages. 1:00-6:00 p.m. Annual Golf Challenge & Awards Reception (separate registration required, see registration form for details)
ASAE & The Center's Annual Golf Challenge is back and better than ever. Join your association peers this year at the historic La Costa Resort and Spa, current home of the Accenture Match Play Championship. Golfers of all skill levels are invited to participate in the networking, friendship and fun by golfing, becoming a sponsor, donating a prize or all of the above!
Held at La Costa Resort and Spa, this will truly be a memorable golf experience, with lunch and awards reception included.

Experiential Orientation and Networking
Susan RoAne, The Mingling Maven®, is the undisputed and original networking expert and author of best seller How To Work A Room® and soon to be released: Face To Face: How To Reclaim the Personal Touch in a Digital World. For over two decades she has shared her message of connecting and communicating with audiences worldwide. Come prepared to have fun and learn to start, maintain and graciously exit conversations with your colleagues, build rapport and relationships and reclaim your personal touch.

6:30-7:30 a.m. 5K Fun Run (a $35 entry fee is applicable, see registration form for details)
Start your Annual Meeting experience off right! Embody the health and vitality of California by kicking off Sunday morning with a fun run while supporting Commitment 2008 and Father Joe's Villages. It's the perfect way to incorporate fitness, fresh air and perhaps a little bit of friendly competition.
Begin this invigorating event with a fitness professional who will lead you through stretches along the bay in Embarcadero Park. After you've warmed up, just await the race director's command ... on your mark... get set... go! Race officials will guide you along an accurately measured course through Embarcadero Park, Seaport Village and along San Diego Bay. Appreciate the camaraderie and cheers of encouragement as they cross the finish line with fellow runners and walkers. What a way to start the day!
Prizes will be awarded for the top association executive, industry partner and consultant participants.

1) San Diego Wine & Culinary Center $130.00 per person-includes meal
San Diego's Wine & Culinary Center is dedicated to promoting the food and wine bounty of San Diego County. Working with local winemakers, growers, chefs, restaurateurs and quality food purveyors they offer the finest locally-produced products. Wine tasting, chef demonstrations, product sampling, classes, seminars, banquets, tours and excursions are par for the course here. But, the Center is also known to bring great wines and foods from around the globe, inviting talented international chefs and winemakers to facilitate classes and events.
Upon your arrival, enjoy a relaxing and informative wine presentation of cabernet sauvignon, merlot and cabernet franc, which are the traditional varietals in red Bordeaux wine. Led by our professional wine staff, you will first taste each component of the wine and then discuss their blending characteristics. Then, enjoy a wonderful buffet before blending your own wine. 2) Taste of the Gaslamp Quarter $88.00 per person
Join us for a special visit to the Historical Gaslamp Quarter in downtown San Diego. Discover the colorful history of Alonzo Horton and his dream that eventually became a reality. See the lively bustle of this creative downtown district, the architecture from days gone by and the history of beautiful San Diego.
Participants will be divided into small groups and each group will have the opportunity to experience three unique restaurants in the Gaslamp Quarter. The Taste of the Gaslamp Quarter is the perfect opportunity to experience the historic Gaslamp District in its entirety!
Taste of the Gaslamp Quarter restaurants will include:
- La Fiesta
Step into the small Mexican Village of La Fiesta, where bright colors, hardwood floors and quaint hand painted chairs create a wonderful, authentic atmosphere. This upscale Mexican eatery boasts of its famous sizzling fajitas, marinated in exotic chiles and sautéed with bell peppers, onions and tomatoes. The ambience and food will no doubt transport you south of the border.
- George's on Fifth
Home of Wyatt Earp's famous gambling hall and saloon, this is one of the better known and frequented saloons in the city. Today, the beautiful building that houses this restaurant stands tall and proud as the most photographed building in the Gaslamp Quarter. The restaurant evokes a feeling of timelessness with rich mahogany paneling and painted caricatures depicting famous San Diegans.
- Dakota Grill and Spirits
With its intriguing interior design, featuring an exceptional melding of Southwestern charm and historical elegance, this bi-level restaurant provides a perfect backdrop for any occasion. A grand staircase leads up to the second story dining and bar area providing guests a bird's eye view into the exhibition kitchen. The hand-carved ceiling, unique iron sculptures and fabulous collection of tongue-in-cheek cowboy artwork create a stylish southwester theme.
